Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten held official bilateral talks to elevate the India-Netherlands relationship to a strategic partnership.
The two leaders today held meeting with 16 prominent CEOs of leading Dutch companies across various sectors such as energy, ports, health, agriculture trade, and technology, among others. The business leaders made presentations on three clusters : Semiconductors, Technology and innovation; Infrastructure, logistics and maritime; and Sustainability, Energy and Agriculture; outlining their strategies for India.
Ahead of the meeting, an agreement between ASML and Tata Electronics was signed in the presence of the two leaders. They welcomed the decision of Tata Electronics and ASML to partner together for India’s first front-end semiconductor FAB in Dholera, Gujarat.
PM Modi appreciates growing interest of Dutch companies in India
Prime Minister Modi welcomed the deepening of business-to-business ties between India and the Netherlands, and appreciated the growing interest of Dutch companies in India’s economic vibrancy. Highlighting the recent reforms and initiatives, he emphasized efforts to improve the ease of doing business and to establish a stable, efficient, and predictable policy environment. Prime Minister Modi encouraged Dutch companies to explore opportunities in India, particularly in maritime, renewable energy, digital technologies, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and healthcare sectors.
16 Dutch CEOs Who Met PM Modi
The CEOs who attended the interaction included Keith Svendsen of APM Terminals, Christophe Fouquet of semiconductor giant ASML, Arnout Damen of Damen Shipyards Group, and Heineken CEO Dolf van den Brink. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines CEO Marjan Rintel and NXP Semiconductors Netherlands CEO Maurice Geraets also participated in the discussions.
Healthcare technology major Philips was represented by CEO Roy Jakobs, while Port of Rotterdam CEO Boudewijn Siemons joined talks on logistics and port infrastructure. Clean energy firm Power2X CEO Occo Roelofsen and Prosus CEO Fabricio Bloisi were among the participants from the energy and technology sectors.
Randstad CEO Sander van ’t Noordende represented the HR services sector, while agribusiness firms Rijk Zwaan Zaadteelt en Zaadhandel and Royal HZPC Group were represented by Martijn Eggink and Hans Huistra respectively.
The interaction also included Royal IHC CEO Derk te Bokkel, Royal Vopak CEO Dick Richelle, and Van Oord CEO Govert van Oord, with discussions focusing on shipbuilding, industrial logistics, energy infrastructure and infrastructure development.
The industry leaders appreciated the India’s reform agenda and shared their future plans for India. They expressed interest in exploring opportunities to enhance their presence in India.
