Bengaluru: A high court division bench Friday directed Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to file an additional affidavit clarifying its stand on petitions filed by several students challenging the third round of medical and dental seat allotments.
The bench of Justices Jayant Banerji and KV Aravind extended till Nov 3 its earlier interim order restraining KEA from finalising the third-round allotment of undergraduate MBBS and BDS seats.
The provisional allotment list was released on Oct 24. While KEA had submitted an affidavit explaining the seat-allotment process, the court observed that it failed to address specific issues raised by the petitioners.
The students contended that less meritorious candidates, based on NEET ranks, had been allotted seats in the provisional list, and alleged that the procedure adopted in the third round was not disclosed in the 2025 admission information bulletin.
They further argued that KEA’s process deviated from the method followed under all-India quota, where students — regardless of earlier allotments —are allowed to participate in subsequent rounds for vacant seats.
