Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru said there was still no official information on the whereabouts of those at the immigration centre.
More than 130 Indians, including pilgrims travelling for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, are missing in Nepal after devastating flash floods hit central districts and cut off affected areas.
Among those unaccounted for are 77 members of the Isha Foundation who were at an immigration centre when the flooding struck, the foundation said.
Sadhguru: 495 Members Return Safely
Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru said there was still no official information on the whereabouts of those at the immigration centre.
In a post on X, Sadhguru said the group was caught in the flash flood while returning from Kailash Manasarovar. He said volunteers and support teams were doing their utmost to help with rescue efforts and were ready to reach the affected area, “regardless of the risk involved”.
“We are working with the authorities to see if we can get to the location and stand ready to be part of the rescue efforts, regardless of the risk involved,” he wrote.
He said 495 people from Isha Foundation’s 21 groups had returned safely, while 743 remained in Tibet and 148 were in Nepal. Three volunteers were also in Timure, Nepal.
“I am personally in the region to ensure the best can be done in the given circumstances,” Sadhguru said.
‘No Warning, No Indication’
Maa Gambhiri, coordinator at Isha Sacred Walks, said communication networks were down after the massive flood. “We haven’t been able to establish contact yet because there was a massive flood. All communication lines are down, and we cannot reach anyone on the ground,” she told ANI.
She said an Isha team member spoke to the group leader, Praveen, at around 9:05 am, but contact was lost about 10 minutes later. “When we tried to contact him again ten minutes later, we couldn’t get through to him or anyone else. It seems the incident occurred within those ten minutes,” she said.
Gambhiri said there had been no indication of the disaster before the group reached the immigration centre. “We had no prior information or inkling that anything was amiss; everything seemed completely normal during our conversation,” she said, adding, “There was no warning, no indication; nothing was communicated.”
