The Netherlands-based technology-driven trading firm Optiver has offered a ₹2.50 crore annual job opportunity for a Computer Science and Engineering graduate at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Hyderabad). While Optiver topped the list of international 24 offers by annual CTC (cost to company), Databricks made an ₹1.58-crore CTC job offer in the domestic sector.
As the institute completed the first phase of placements for the current year, about 62 per cent of the 487 students who registered for the placement phase were placed with various companies. The average CTC was put at ₹36.21 lakhs. In 2024-25, the institute placed 617 of the 941 students registered for placements, with the highest CTC of ₹66.13 lakhs and an average pay of ₹20.80 lakhs.
The other top recruiters included Uber (five offers), Oracle (7 offers), D E Shaw (2), Accenture and Japan (5).
“We have about 1,100 students for the year. We are confident of placing 90-95 per cent of the students in the second phase, which will begin in January and last till May 2026,” a senior IIT-H academician told businessline. He said the remaining might opt for higher studies in India and abroad.
Among the branches, Computer Engineering recorded 93.3 per cent placements, with 14 out of 15 students securing placements. This was followed by the Artificial Intelligence branch with 83.33 per cent (25 students out of 30 students), and Computer Science and Engineering with 83.05 per cent (49 students out of 59 students).
“We offer a semester-long internship with six credits in BTech to get connected closely with the industry. We also offer a mandatory 1-credit course on “Industry Lectures” and encourage its MTech students to carry out their MTech thesis on industry-defined problems,” B S Murty, Director of the 17-year-old IIT, said, as the institute welcomed the recruiters to the campus.
“In addition to placements, we also assist students in securing admissions to premier institutions—both national and international—for higher studies. We consistently attracted a large number of international offers, thanks to our growing collaborations with global companies. This year, we recorded 53 international offers and 15 international internships,” he said.
