A month after issuing show-cause notices to 26 government medical colleges in Telangana over faculty shortages and other infrastructure-related concerns, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for these institutions to continue functioning in the upcoming academic year.
The development was confirmed in a release issued by the office of Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, which said that the NMC has not imposed any penalties or fines on any of the institutions. “NMC officials appreciated the proactive steps taken by the State government to address the faculty shortage in government medical colleges,” the release stated.
