Pradeep Dhiman shot Surendra in a market over a love affair, posted a revenge video on Instagram. Police arrested Pradeep hours later.

A panic erupted in Ramraj town of Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, after a man allegedly shot dead his wife’s alleged lover in the middle of a busy market in broad daylight. The chilling incident took place between 1:35 PM and 1:45 PM in the Bahsuma police station area.
Surendra, also known as Sunil or Gaba, a resident of Mohalla Jagjeevanpuri in Ramraj, was riding his motorcycle through the market when he was intercepted near Sanatan Dharam Temple. According to CCTV footage, the masked attacker, identified as Pradeep Dhiman, first fired at Surendra’s waist. The bullet caused him to lose control and fall onto the road along with his bike.
Instead of fleeing, the accused reportedly shouted, “Is there any brave man here who can save him?” Moments later, he walked up to the injured man, pressed a pistol to his temple, and fired again. Surendra died on the spot. The accused then fled the scene, waving his weapon as he escaped on his motorcycle.
Instagram Video: “I Have Taken My Revenge”
Shortly after the murder, Pradeep Dhiman also posted a four-minute video from his Instagram account named ‘Maut Ka Khauf 302’. In the video, he is seen riding a bike and displaying a weapon while speaking in an aggressive tone.
He said, “I have taken my revenge. After one and a half years, I found Surendra today and killed him. My wife who ran away, I will kill her too. I am not afraid of anyone. Send this video to the SSP Meerut and all police stations. I carry two and a half metres of shroud cloth with me.”
In the same video, he also claimed that he would target women who leave their husbands and accused the police of forcing him to pick up a weapon.
A Love Affair And Year-Long Grudge
According to preliminary police investigation, the roots of the murder lie in a relationship that began around a year and a half ago. Surendra was allegedly involved with Pradeep’s wife, Poonam. About 18 months ago, Poonam left her husband and two children and eloped with Surendra. The two later solemnised their relationship through a court marriage and had been living together since.
Family members allege that Pradeep had previously fired shots at Surendra’s house nearly eight months ago, but strict police action was not taken at that time. They believe that the failure to curb the earlier incident ultimately led to the fatal shooting.
Police Response And Manhunt
Taking the case seriously, SP Rural Abhijeet Kumar has formed three special teams to arrest the accused. Police are using CCTV footage and the viral social media video as key evidence.
The SP Rural stated, “An FIR has been registered based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s family. The accused has been identified as Pradeep Dhiman. The authenticity of the viral video is being verified, and a departmental inquiry will also examine the allegations made against police personnel.”
The police arrested the accused hours later.
