Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek scored two goals each on Wednesday (August 19), while Hardik Singh converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter to help India defeat Pakistan 5-3 in their third and final Pool D match of the ongoing FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026.
In the fixture played at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, India scored two goals in each of the first two quarters and one in the third to secure a comfortable win over their arch-rivals.
Pakistan also scored twice in the second quarter and added another goal in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but they were unable to draw level at any stage as India maintained their lead throughout the match.

Pakistan suffered a 0-4 defeat against England in their opening match, played out a 3-3 draw against Wales in their second game, and then went down 3-5 against India.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals for India in their third and final Pool D match against Pakistan to take his tally to five goals in three matches at this year’s tournament.
Harmanpreet scored twice in India’s opening Pool D match against Wales on Saturday (August 15) to help his team secure a 3-1 victory. He then found the back of the net once against England in India’s 2-4 defeat on Monday (August 17).
Against Pakistan, Harmanpreet opened the scoring for India in the fifth minute before finding the back of the net again in the sixth minute of the second quarter.
