An FIR has been lodged against Moitra by a BJP leader against Moitra’s derogatory comments on August 26, in connection with Independence Day with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech to the Demographic Commission.
Speaking to media in West Bengal’s Nadia district, Moitra has allegedly said that the Union government was not taking responsibilities on border security issues.

Moitra also questioned why infiltration continues despite the presence of the Border Security Force along the frontier. The BJP leadership slammed Moitra for her remarks.
