Badly damaged agriculture lands in Nizamabad revenue division of Nizamabad district after untimely heavy rains and flashfloods.

Famers in several mandals were left in tears as heavy rain in Nizamabad on Thursday (August 28, 2025) as over 12,000 acres of agriculture land was damaged due to sand deposits.
After Kamareddy district, it was the turn of Nizamabad district to face rain fury with Sirikonda, Dharpally, Bheemgal and Indalwai mandals being the worst affected in heavy rains.
Overflowing rivulets, sudden inundation of villages, bridges caving in and roads cut due to the surging flood waters was the order of the day in these mandals. Kondapur, Tumpally, Gadkol, Musheernagar, Hanmajipet, Wadi, Nadimitanda, Bejjora and Sirnapally villages bore the brunt of the flash floods. Three local irrigation tanks breached sending flood waters into the agriculture lands and houses. Standing crops went under a sheet of water and sand deposits only compounded the woes of the farmers.
Nizamabad Collector T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, Nizamabad Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya , Nizamabad Rural MLA R. Bhupathi Reddy and officials extensively toured the affected areas coordinating and monitoring relief work.
Preliminary reports received by the district administration pointed out to damages to 13 under Panchayat Raj and 29 Roads and Buildings roads. Seven houses were damaged in the rains while 60 electric poles and equal number of conductors suffered damages. In many places transformers installed in agriculture lands were submerged in rain water. As a result of the rains, power supply to eight villages was stopped.
Relief camps were opened in Chandur, Dharpally, Dischpally, Nizamabad rural, Jakranpally villages to accommodate 358 displaced people. Although, there was no loss of life, the SDRF and police teams rescued 17 persons caught in floods. Two people stuck in the Excise office in Bheemgal due to flooding from Kappalavagu were rescued by the fire services personnel. Six persons travelling in an auto had a miraculous escape near Bejjora when they were stuck in flood waters. With the help of JCB machine, they were brought to safety. Eight persons stuck near Indalwai toll plaza on NH-44 were rescued by the relief teams.
District administration has warned people not to venture out for the next 48 hours in view of heavy rain forecast.
