Bryan Johnson, the 47-year-old American tech billionaire on a quest to reverse his biological age, has once again drawn attention to India’s poor air quality, this time citing a study that highlights the severe health risks associated with air pollution. Johnson’s recent comments follow an incident in which he abruptly left a podcast with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, complaining of a burning sensation in his throat, eye irritation, and rashes on his skin due to the air quality in a Mumbai hotel.
In a lengthy post on X, Johnson referenced a study that demonstrated how air pollution can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, blood fat imbalance, and gene dysregulation linked to cancer. The study, which involved exposing mice to low levels of traffic-related PM2.5 pollutants, showed that prolonged exposure to even “low-level” pollution led to systemic damage extending beyond the respiratory system.
