Bhopal: In the preceding three years, an average of 11,000 TB patients have been notified in Bhopal, one of the highest in the state.
Bhopal collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh enrolled as a Nikshay Mitra, committing nutritional support to five tuberculosis patients, according to a press release issued on Monday.
This endeavour is part of the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Abhiyan, a community participation campaign striving to eliminate tuberculosis by furnishing nutritional assistance to patients. Singh presented food to a patient, motivating other officers to participate. The programme enables individuals and organisations to supply monthly food hampers to patients for six months.
Singh, Bhopal collector, personally adopted five TB patients under the Nikshay Mitra initiative. The scheme promotes community involvement in combating tuberculosis.
As a Nikshay Mitra, Singh shall provide monthly food hampers to five TB patients for six months, the standard treatment duration for tuberculosis. The hampers comprise high-protein provisions including flour, lentils, oil, jaggery groundnut chikki, and roasted gram. This scheme aims to enhance the nutritional intake of TB patients during their treatment.
CMHO Bhopal, Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said that approximately 1,000 individuals in Bhopal have already registered to become ‘nikshay mitra’.
The programme additionally seeks to augment the govt’s financial assistance with supplementary nutritional support.
These provisions are designed to supplement the patients’ diets with vital nutrients. Various individuals and social organisations routinely contribute to this community support programme.
