RAWALPINDI:
Rawalpindi Commissioner Laiqat Ali Chatha has announced that the ongoing renovation work at Holy Family Hospital is expected to be completed by January 31, 2024.
According to a statement, Commissioner Chatha, accompanied by media personnel, also inspected the progress of several other projects, including Rawalpindi Ring Road, Duducha Dam, and Rawat Vegetable Market.
The purpose of the visit, as stated by Commissioner Chatha, was to update the public about the status of these projects. By involving the media, he aimed to provide firsthand information to the public, urging them to visit the sites and clarify any misconceptions.
This, he said, will encourage cooperation with the departments concerned to ensure the successful completion of these public welfare projects.

Commissioner Chatha provided a briefing on the Dadhocha Dam site visit, mentioning that the right-of-way has been mostly cleared, minimising hindrances to the construction process. The dam, located 25 kilometres from Rawalpindi, covers an area of 16,194 kanals and 14 marlas, with a height of 123 feet and a length of 737 feet.
Once completed, it is expected to supply 35 million gallons of water per day to Rawalpindi. He emphasised that, under the Supreme Court’s decision, the local population is being compensated based on the current land rates.
Regarding Rawalpindi Ring Road, Commissioner Chatha reported that work is progressing swiftly, with 27 per cent of the earthwork completed for Phase 1, stretching from Banth to Thalian over 38.3 km. The road will feature five interchanges and an industrial zone will be established along its route.
The target for completion is set for September 2024. The visit also included an inspection of the Rawat Vegetable and Fruit Market.
