Punjab Police on Thursday stated they’ve arrested a person on charges associated to the desecration of a duplicate of a religious scripture in Phagwara.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaspreet Singh stated the accused, recognized as Shankar, is a vegetable vendor from Uttar Pradesh however at present dwelling in Gobindpura space right here.
He stated Shankar was arrested below Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts meant to outrage religious emotions of any class by insulting its faith or religious beliefs) of Indian Penal Code on a criticism by a neighborhood.
Singh stated the complainant informed the police that Shankar got here to his store to get his cell phone recharged.
The complainant stated the accused gave him a religious guide which he was utilizing as a diary and on which over half a dozen phone numbers of his family and others had been famous.
