Dangs district panchayat president and BJP leader Mangal Gavit, who is also the former Congress MLA from Dangs, stayed away from the inauguration of a newly-built primary health centre at Garkhadi village in the district last Sunday.
The e-invitation card contained names of Valsad BJP MP K C Patel as well as Vijay Patel, the deputy chief whip of BJP in Gujarat Assembly and Dangs MLA, as the chief guests. Gavit’s name was mentioned among other guests.
Local BJP leaders said that Gavit felt insulted as his name was not mentioned among the chief guests and skipped the event. Gavit, meanwhile, said, “I had some work in Valsad and so did not attend the event.”
