India first semi-conductor plant: Dholera Special Investment Region close to Ahmedabad has been finalised by Foxconn and Indian conglomerate Vedanta to set up their semiconductor and show manufacturing plant, a senior authorities official mentioned.
Vedanta and Foxconn in September 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat authorities to make investments Rs 1,54,000 crore in the state.
Once established, it would be India’s first semi-conductor manufacturing plant.
“After an in depth web site evaluation in session with Gujarat authorities authorities, the three way partnership entity of Vedanta and Foxconn has chosen Dholera SIR for setting up their semiconductor and show manufacturing facility. The challenge is in the superior stage of analysis by the federal government of India,” PTI quoted an official.
Vedanta and Foxconn had signed the MoU in Gandhinagar in the presence of Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw final yr.
Under the ‘Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-27’, the challenge will get numerous subsidies and incentives, like zero stamp obligation on land buy and subsidised water and electrical energy.
