Bottoms follows PJ (Rachel Sennott) and Josie (Ayo Edebiri), two queer teen women who begin a struggle membership with a plan to lose their virginities to cheerleaders. According to the movie’s official logline, “Their weird plan works. The struggle membership positive aspects traction and quickly the hottest women in class are beating one another up in the title of self-defence. But PJ and Josie discover themselves in over their heads and in want of a method out earlier than their plan is uncovered.”
Director Emma Seligman who rose to fame with the 2020 indie characteristic Shiva Baby wrote the screenplay alongside Rachel. The forged of the movie consists of Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczyk and Marshawn Lynch.
Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman and Alison Small function producers alongside government producer Ted Deiker.
Bottoms premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 11 and is ready to launch in theatres on August 25, 2023.
