The launch ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Jayanta Kumar Roy, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Prof. Mahendra Nath Roy, VC of North Bengal University; K. Satyanarayana, Former IPS (Retd.) & CEO, PhysicsWallah.
The programme seeks to provide completely free coaching for 16 competitive examinations to more than 10,000 studentsacross the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar. The initiative covers examinations related to Agniveer, West Bengal Police SI and Constable, SSB/CISF Constable examinations, Combined Defence Services (CDS), National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Staff Selection Committee (SSC), WBPSC and UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Under DWS Utkarsh, students will receive access to comprehensive online coaching programmes through Physics Wallah’s technology-enabled learning ecosystem. The initiative aims to remove financial barriers that often prevent deserving students from accessing quality preparation, with coaching costs for such examinations typically ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹75,000.
Admissions under the programme will be offered on a first come, first serve basis, and each candidate will be eligible to enrol in only one course, ensuring that the benefits of the initiative reach the widest possible pool of aspirants. Following registration and Aadhaar verification, selected candidates will receive full access to their chosen coaching programme free of cost.

Our goal is to empower young people with the knowledge, skills and guidance required to compete successfully for careers in public service, defence, law enforcement and administration. By investing in our youth, we are investing in the future of our region.”

Over the past two years, DWS has successfully conducted free UPSC coaching programmes, mentoring more than 120 candidates, several of whom have gone on to secure positions in government and public sector, including the West Bengal Civil Service, RBI and Intelligence Bureau.
