Even as no case of avian influenza has been reported within the state thus far, the federal government has sounded an alert and pulled out all stops to preserve the state secure from the attainable impact of outbreak in its neighbouring states.
Confirming that no bird loss of life was reported in any a part of the state to date, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan has ordered stepping up of sampling, testing and surveillance of the suspected bird flu circumstances. She stated all requisite logistics and funds have been out there to battle the scenario.
Mahajan was in the present day reviewing the scenario and preparedness of the state to forestall the unfold within the wake of the outbreak in different states.
Chairing a gathering of the heads of 10 departments concerned within the prevention and treatment of such circumstances, the Chief Secretary requested the officers to stay on excessive alert and preserve an in depth vigil to detect any uncommon bird loss of life within the state.
Mahajan directed the Animal Husbandry Department to withdraw the Covid testing from NRDDL in Jalandhar and totally utilise the services to check bird samples. — TNS
