The Centre will make it mandatory for carmakers to present a minimal of six airbags in motor vehicles that may carry up to 8 passengers for enhanced security of occupants, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated on Friday.
In a collection of tweets, the Road Transport and Highways Minister stated his ministry had already mandated the implementation of fitment of the motive force airbag with impact from July 1, 2019 and entrance co-passenger airbag with impact from January 1, 2022.
