Sensing the scenario, the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board (HPSAMB) requested the central authorities company Food Corporation of India (FCI) to obtain the wheat from the state.
The HPSAMB managing director Captain Naresh Thakur stated, “Wheat procurement was achieved by the state agencies earlier too nevertheless it was on a small scale. We have established eight wheat procurement centres within the state for the procurement of wheat this time. The FCI is procuring the meals grain on the MSP. Before the arrival of FCI, we had reviews of wheat being bought at round Rs 1,600-1,700 per quintal within the open market.”
