NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stated the production-linked incentive scheme for white goods (air-conditioners and LED lights) is one more initiative that may strengthen the motion to create an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India).
Earlier within the day, the Union Cabinet authorised the scheme with a budgetary outlay of Rs 6,238 crore.
The prime goal of the scheme is to make manufacturing in India globally aggressive by eradicating sectoral disabilities, creating economies of scale and making certain efficiencies.
“The Production Linked Incentive Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights) is one more initiative that may strengthen the motion to create an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

In one other tweet, he stated the Cabinet’s nod to a Rs 4,500-crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to increase the home manufacturing capability of photo voltaic PV modules will increase capacities within the all-important photo voltaic sector and make India a hub of renewable power.
